Question by EMOdOll: What should I look for when buying an iPad?
My boyfriend wants a galaxy tablet but I think it’s ugly so I opted for the iPad. I’m not too familiar with apple….. What is 3G and not 3G? He needs wifi everywhere to use it? Are there fake ones, if so how can I tell the difference? What kind should I buy him is 16g too small for an iPad? What can you really even do on an iPad besides Internet? Is it just a giant iPhone?

I just got an iPad for my wife.
I would call it a big iPhone. Awesome still.
3G means you can be connected to the internet via phone service, this will cost $ 15-30 more a month. Will you be using on the run? Otherwise just get the wifi only as long as you’re mostly near a signal.
Right now there doesn’t seem to be a problem with fake iPads. there are many copies and tablets that claim they’re as good or better, but popular reviews by users claim others are slower or just not as convenient as the iPad.
We originally bought a Kindle DX because she wanted something to do the amount of reading she must for grad school, but for her type of reading and being able to transfer PDFs easily, the iPad won out. Plus we are suckers for the games and other apps you can get through iTunes.
If I were you I’d check out the apple outlet online store. A few days ago they were selling the 16gb wifi only for $ 429. That’s for the refurb, but it still comes with a one year warranty.
